Additional Drivers

Additional drivers must provide a valid driver license as well as additional contact information. Primary Driver Free + Additional driver $11.95/day Minimum Age for Additional Drivers: 21-24. All drivers are required to have state minimum liability protection. (Underage fee applies to any driver under the age of 25 no exceptions)

After Hours Returns

Rental Location is a 24/7 Contactless Experience Drop off address: Our location is located at 225 W Santa Clara Street San Jose CA 95113. Please drop off to this address. Please enter through the Carlyse St. side of the parking entrance and use the keycard that was provided to you to enter the parking structure . This is the ONLY entrance that will allow you to use the keycard upon return. Also please put the key and the lanyard attached to the keycard, back into the envelope and place them underneath the driver seat. Please leave the doors unlocked.

Coverages

Collision Damage Waiver: CDW is not insurance and is not mandatory. If you accept CDW by your initials on the rental document at the daily rate for each full or partial day that the vehicle is rented to you, and the vehicle is used and operated in accordance with this agreement, we assume responsibility for loss or damage to the rented vehicle, except, if permitted by law, for lost, damaged or stolen keys or remote entry devices, towing or tire service unless related to an accident or recovery of the car if stolen and except for your amount of “responsibility”, if any, specified on the rental document. CDW does not cover theft of the vehicle if the keys cannot be produced. Cost of CDW depends on the vehicle type and rental location- the exact amount is available at the rental counter. Deductible Damage Waiver: DDW is only available to Renters who carry an existing auto collision policy. DDW is not insurance and is not mandatory. If you accept DDW by your initials on the rental document at the daily rate for each full or partial day that the vehicle is rented to you, and the vehicle is used and operated in accordance with this agreement, we waive your responsibility for loss or damage to the rented vehicle up to the amount of your applicable primary auto insurance deductible, except, if permitted by law, for lost, damaged or stolen keys or remote entry devices, towing or tire service unless related to an accident or recovery of the car is stolen and except for your amount of “responsibility”, if any, specified on the rental document. In the unfortunate event that you are responsible for damage or collision, In order to validate coverage, you will be required to submit a copy of your primary auto policy’s “declaration” page to AVR’s claims department. Mexico Insurance: AVR Van Rental offers the purchase of Mexico Insurance, on vehicle rentals. Mexico insurance required to be purchased at the AVR location 72 hours prior to travel to Mexico. Rates start at $45.00 per calendar day including tax. Travel is allowed to cities in Mexico close to California and Arizona border. NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA. RSA: Roadside Assistance (RSA): If you purchase our Roadside Service Assistance (RSA) we will waive all, or a portion of, the cost of a roadside assistance service call up to the amount of $400.00 per incident. You may purchase RSA at $5.99 per rental day. Benefits include emergency road service towing, winching, jump start, flat tire change, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery. Some restrictions apply ask for a copy of an RSA brochure at the rental counter. Roadside assistance is available to all customers at the renter’s expense should the RSA option be declined. RSA does not cover the loss or damage to any vehicle or its equipment.

Cross-Border Restrictions

Our company permits the crossing of our vehicles into Mexico, subject to the purchase of adequate insurance coverage. This insurance is available for purchase at a rate of $65 per 24-hour period while the vehicle is in Mexico. It is the responsibility of the vehicle renter or driver to obtain this insurance at the time of booking or pickup. At this time, we do not permit our vehicles to be taken across the border into Canada. To ensure that the insurance coverage purchased is effective for any incidents occurring in Mexico, it is imperative that all such incidents are reported while the vehicle is still within the country. Failure to promptly report incidents in Mexico may result in the insurance coverage being deemed void, and the renter or driver may be held personally liable for any damages or losses incurred.

Driving Restrictions

Renters must be 21 years or older to rent. Rates listed online are for 25 years and older. A valid driver license and valid payment card must be presented at time of pick-up. International Driver License: Valid International driver license is required. International renters must provide proof of full coverage insurance valid in the United States. Insurance must be obtained prior to or at the time of rental. It is our policy to hold reservations up to two hours beyond the scheduled arrival time, subject to published office hours. If you experience delays, please contact the rental office so that they can make their best effort to extend your reservation. Young Driver Fee: Minimum Age for any rental is 21. Any renter between the ages of 21-24 will be subject to a $25.00 per day underage fee.

Financial Policy

Credit cards accepts Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa Credit card/ Debit card policy: Debit card must have a Visa or MasterCard logo. Debit card/Credit card and driver’s license must be in same name. Required at time of rental. AVR will authorize the amount of $200.00 as a security deposit. Unused funds upon return will be credited back to the card. This process may take up to 14 days for a credit to appear back on your account due to bank processing standards Debit Card Users: AVR will authorize an additional $200.00 as a security deposit; and local Renters must provide proof of residency (Current Utility Bill or Pay Stub). Travelers must provide a copy of their round trip ticket. This process may take up to 14 days for a credit to appear back on your account due to bank processing standards. Debit cards are not accepted for Full size SUV reservations and rentals. Prepaid Cards/Personal Checks: Prepaid cards or personal checks are not accepted as forms of payment. Cash Users: Cash deposits are not accepted at the time of rental, but can be used as payment upon return, on the location. PREPAID RESERVATIONS If your reservation was confirmed directly with Airport Van Rental through the Airport Van Rental web page at www.airportvanrental.com, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Prepaid reservations are non-refundable and may not be modified. Your credit card will be charged immediately for the entire rental reservation. If your reservation was confirmed through another provider (booking site, outside source, etc.), please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers (booking site, outside source, etc.) may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. Cancellation of a reservation directly through Airport Van Rental when confirmed through another provider may not relieve your responsibility with that provider. In order to alleviate charges (cancellation fee or penalty), check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with them. CANCELLATION If you cancel your reservation for any reason your payment is non-refundable. If you modify your reservation, or do not pick up your car rental on the scheduled pick update and time, your reservation will be cancelled and you will not receive any credits or refunds. MODIFICATION The prepaid rate you selected applies to the exact date and times of rental days/car types. Any modification to a reservation is not permitted. TOTAL PRICE The price you selected includes the rental car rate, taxes and applicable fees. The price does not include any additional fees, that may be incurred for the duration of your rental.

Mileage Limitations

For all vehicle classes, local renters are granted a daily mileage allowance of 375 miles. The total mileage allowance for the entire rental period is capped at 3,000 miles. Should a renter exceed the daily 375-mile allowance, a fee of $0.25 per additional mile will be charged. If the total mileage for the rental exceeds the 3,000-mile cap, a fee of $0.50 per additional mile will be imposed, regardless of the rental duration. Exceptions to these charges may be granted only with written authorization from AVR Leadership.

Pick-up Instructions

Rental Location is a 24/7 Contact-less Experience Pickup Instructions: Our location is located at 225 W Santa Clara Street San Jose CA 95113. This is rooftop parking. Please pickup and drop off to this address. Once you arrive at the pickup address, please Do Not pull a ticket at all, there is a fee if you pull a ticket. Please go to the entrance on Almaden St, you will have to walk up the stairs to the rooftop to get your vehicle. Any personal vehicles that enter the parking structure will receive a fee, AVR is not responsible for those fees. The SJC location will email you the pickup and drop off instructions. This will include the vehicle that was assigned to you.

Plate Pass

Under the toll program, customers have several options to not use the OnePass® service. Customers may use their own personal transponder in the vehicle to pay for any tolls. Customers may pay in cash. Customers may avoid toll roads altogether. Customers should know that some toll roads are now cashless, and no longer accept cash payments. Customers accepting the OnePass® Unlimited Plan agree to pay $12.95 per each day of the Rental, for which all tolls will be covered with no additional charges. If customer declines and still incurs a toll not paid by the Customer, then Customer agrees to pay the amount of each toll plus a $15.00 Daily Usage Fee for each day tolls are incurred, up to a maximum of $75.00 per rental agreement. Tolls will be charged at the highest posted, non-discounted cash rate. These charges will typically occur within 3-6 weeks after the rental has been completed and will be charged by our toll administrator GTS (Global Toll Services) with whom we will share your rental information with.

Renter Qualifications

Insurance must be obtained prior to or at the time of rental. There are no charges for cancellations made over 48 hours prior to your rental period. If you need to cancel within this 48-hour window before your rental time, however, a one-day rental fee will apply. To prevent incurring any extra fees, we kindly request that you cancel your reservation directly through the booking platform you used. It's important to note that renters who fail to cancel before the rental day will be held liable for the total rental cost. Please also keep in mind that any prepaid rentals are not subject to refunds. AVR has the right to cancel reservations booked due to errors or unforeseen issues, including prepay. Grace Period We offer a 30 minute grace period after your scheduled return time listed on your contract. Late Returns or Extensions: Any late returns or extensions can be subject to a higher daily or weekly rate with a $25 extension fee. Please check with your renting office if you need to extend your rental. Delayed Pickups Reservations will be honored for 2 hours after your scheduled pickup time only. Please make sure to call your renting office if you are going to be delayed more than 2 hours.
