Did you know Chicago hosts over 30 million tourists annually? Chi-Town has long been an influential American city, hosting the World's Fair in 1893 when it earned the nickname "Windy City."
Chicago has something to offer every visitor. Take in the stunning skyline, unwind on the shores of Lake Michigan, or catch one of our iconic sports team's games. We're also home to world-class museums, vibrant art, international cuisines, and incredible musical heritage. Because Chicago is such a crowd-pleaser, it's no surprise that many people choose it as a vacation destination.
Are you planning a group trip to Chicago? If so, you'll need to reserve a vehicle from a van rental company. There are two main airports in the Chicago area: Chicago O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport. No matter which you choose, AVR is the best place to get a great deal on a minivan or passenger van!
Midway International Airport's shuttle services to the on-site Rental Car Facility operate 24/7, arriving every 15 minutes.
Once you're on the shuttle, call our office at 708-315-5500. We'll send an AVR shuttle to pick you up at Midway's Rental Car Facility and bring you to our rental lot.
If you're flying into O'hare Airport, let us know at the time of your reservation. We can arrange a pick-up location that is convenient for you!
Traveling with a group can be a hassle if you don't have the right vehicle. Insufficient cargo space will pose a problem when loading luggage, and a lack of legroom will make everyone miserable.
Thus, most groups decide on a full-size passenger van with plenty of seats and space. These vehicles ensure everyone is comfortable while touring the city.
A rental from AVR makes seeing the city possible without worrying about public transportation schedules.
Passenger vans are similar in size to cargo vans, but are designed to haul large groups of people instead of transporting materials. They range from 8 to 15 seaters, making them an ideal option when your tour group is too big to fit in a minivan.
Which one should you choose? Keep reading for some information about each of our vans!
These are the smallest passenger vans and a good choice for families who feel cramped in a minivan. The extra space of an 8-passenger van will allow the kids to spread out and make for a more relaxing vacation.
The next largest vehicle is our 11-passenger van. We recommend this in-between-sized van to groups of 8-11 people who want to avoid splitting up into multiple vehicles during their road trip together.
Sometimes, you need more space on your journey. If you are still deciding whether your group will fit in an 11-seater van, try this 12-passenger van instead. It offers plenty of room!
Our biggest vehicle is a 15-passenger van. We recommend it for groups larger than 12 with minimal luggage or smaller groups who need plenty of baggage space and seating.
You could spend weeks in Chicago without running out of things to see and do. If you don't have that much time, don't worry—we'll share some attractions you can't miss.
Start your family vacation at Grant Park, home to some of the city's most popular things to do, including:
The Field Museum (a natural history museum)
The Art Institute of Chicago
Shedd Aquarium
Buckingham Fountain
While in the area, hop over to Millennium Park, where you'll find Crown Fountain and Cloud Gate ("The Bean").
We also recommend Navy Pier for families. The kids will love the amusement rides; adults can check out a show, shop, or grab a bite to eat.
Once you've seen the basics, you can personalize your itinerary with attractions that interest you and your family or group. Here are some places to consider:
Lincoln Park Zoo
Art Institute of Chicago
Chicago Riverwalk
Wrigley Field
Willis Tower's Skydeck Chicago
360 Chicago Observation Deck
The Magnificent Mile
Besides dozens of attractions, there are some great drives in the Chicago area. You won't want to miss Lake Shore Drive, with views of Lake Michigan and the skyline. Another option is the historic Route 66. You may even want to use these drives as the starting point for a road trip from Chicago.
Renters must be 21 years old. Additionally, drivers 21-24 must pay a young driver fee, which we will charge to their credit or debit card.
Remember that all renters need a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, including additional drivers.
AVR does its best to offer our customers flexibility when they experience delays or cancellations to their flights. Let us know if you need more time to pick up your vehicle or wish to change your pick-up date.
We can modify your pick-up time or bring the van to you if you can't get to our rental lot.
Yes. If you find a better deal from a competing rental company, save the offer. Be sure to include the rental price, dates, and vehicle model. Of course, we will only match offers for Chicago van rentals.
