Flagstaff might seem like some off-brand family vacation spot, but it has so much to offer, especially with all the fall color changes, that there is no way we could ignore this beautiful city. Flagstaff is often named the autumn capital of Arizona and for a good reason. To experience the fall colors at their finest, hit the hiking trails and climb to 8,000 feet in elevation, where large stands of aspen trees steal the show with their quaking leaves glowing like liquid sunshine. Our favorite hiking trail is the Aspen Nature Loop. This scenic loop is sure to expose some of the most impeccable fall colors. At a length of 1.8 miles, this hike is rated as relatively easy. Those looking for an effortless way to witness the scenery should consider Aspen Nature Loop. It offers a great way to hike if you are a beginner and perfect for the whole family. There is plenty to do around Flagstaff all year round as well. Scenic hikes through Walnut Canyon, an observatory to see stars like no where else, white water rafting or boating, a brewing company for some adult fun at night, Flagstaff has something for everyone. Be sure to check out some of the local shops for a bit of a shopping spree. We have you covered with some of the best places only the locals know about when it comes to food. For an upscale dinner, we recommend Brix. This local place only uses farm fresh ingredients to deliver flavor like no other. If you want a lighter dinner or lunch, you have to try the authentic specials at Martanne’s Burrito Palace. Fresh authentic favorites for a low price. Flagstaff offers a lot in terms of lodging. For a cheaper more family oriented experience, we suggest staying at Little America Hotel. The setting is a perfect adventure spot for kids and still boasts a relaxing atmosphere mixed with some rustic outdoors. For a more professional or romantic lodging experience, we recommend The Weatherford Hotel. Flagstaff will make it on your list of places to go again, once the whole family realizes how much fun can be had here. Whether its summer, winter, or fall, Flagstaff has it all.
